Martina Lillo

Martina Lillo is PhD candidate in Sustainable Development and Climate Change at the University of Turin (supervisor: Tiziana Andina).

After obtaining her Bachelor Degree in political science at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB),  she pursued with success a double master degree in EU studies and International Relations at the LUISS  University of Rome and at the University of Turin, where she was able to deal with sustainable development and climate change through different theoretical approaches and views among social sciences  (sociology of international relations, EU and international law, political philosophy and EU integration thought).

At LUISS University, under Raffaella Nanetti’s supervision (London School of Economics, Chicago University) she explored the influence of the concept of social capital on the definition of the Agenda 2030 within the UN framework. In Turin she dealt with the ethical and normative function of the European Union in spreading sustainable development’s core values and practices through the implementation of her main research funding programme (Horizon 2020/Europe).

At the University of Turin, she also worked as Project manager for three Horizon 2020 Excellent Science/ Marie Curie projects and as teaching assistant for both the courses “ The International Role of the European Union” and the Jean Monnet module “Region Europe Lab”.
