Harvard Summer School in Torino, Siena, and Trento

Scienza Nuova, corso Montevecchio 38, Torino

June 17, 2025

July 4, 2025

A course about beauty, its meaning and history, its connection both to innovation and to community-building, its importance as a practice of care for others and the world. An experience of beauty: three weeks in Turin, known for its baroque architecture, art-nouveau cafes, and quality food and wine; two weeks and a half in Trentino, a region famous for the Dolomite mountains and for its cooperative economy; and four weeks in Siena, a perfectly preserved medieval city that every summer hosts its centuries-old horse race, the Palio.
Some thirty students will be admitted to the program. This is the number of participants who have attended the program every year since 2014. Before the pandemic, the program was held only in Milan and Siena; three years ago Trento was added, and for 2025 we decided to move the first location from Milan to one of the most lively, livable, and elegant cities in Italy, Turin, not yet affected by the overtourism that congests destinations such as Rome, Florence, Venice, and now Milan.

The Summer School will be held at Scienza Nuova Institute in Turin from June 16th to July 3rd.
There will be two guest lectiones magistrales by Tiziana Andina (June 26th) and Maurizio Ferraris (July 1st).
