PhD student, Politecnico di Torino
Edoardo Fregonese is a PhD Student in Architecture. History and Project at Politecnico di Torino. He graduated in Philosophy at the University of Turin with a thesis on social ontology and philosophy of economics.
Actually, his doctoral research is about the development of a philosophy of architectural design. This (quasi-) newborn field within philosophy of science and theoretical philosophy is – for the most part – an abstract and general description of design (and designing). Edoardo’s research aims to fill the gap between a traditional philosophical inquiry and a more empirical one – developed by scholars in Science and Technology Studies.
Specifically, the research consists in devising an operative definition of design able to describe actual design through a deconstruction of arguments and reasons embedded in a (real) design representation and linking them to the different phases of a design process by observing the practice of a small architectural studio in Turin.
